Client Guide to Detail Items

Detail flat lay photos can elevate your portfolio from so-so to high-end in a heartbeat and are imperative for album design. Sometimes, our clients don’t realize the importance or aren’t as prepared as we would like them to be to capture these important photos though. This guide is meant as a resource for your clients to ensure they have those detail items packed and prepared for you to capture the moment you walk in the door.

Have you ever arrived to a wedding and when you asked your clients for their detail items to photograph, they just blink at you and ask, “What do you need again?”

You can waste 15 minutes or more of the time designated for these important portfolio-building photos as the clients rummage through bags to locate them or sometimes the clients don’t bring them at all and you are only left with rings, shoes and jewelry.

At Lancaster Photography School, we suggest to our Members that they send their clients a Detail Guide three weeks before the wedding day that details what to pack and how to prepare the items to be photographed on the wedding day. This ensures the photographers get the appropriate amount of time with the items to create beautiful art before they are needed for the rest of the day.
